Book Your Training Course with Castle Air Academy Today

Castle Air Academy is based in a purpose built training facility at Gloucestershire Airport, which is conveniently located next to the motorway network, close to Birmingham and Bristol International Airports.

The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with four classrooms, a large training/meeting room with smart board, 3 simulator rooms and one mobile simulator, as well as a large rest room with facilities for up to 10 people.

These extensive facilities make it an excellent venue for small or large group courses.

Gloucestershire Airport – The Perfect Location

The positioning of the Academy was chosen because Gloucestershire Airport and the airspace lend themselves perfectly to Instrument Training, having ILS, NDB, GPS, RNAV and radar approaches. Meaning, that all aspects of Instrument Rating can be carried out on-site without the need for travel.  This significantly reduces positioning costs to students and means that time can be used more effectively performing approaches rather than travelling from base to another airport.

The Training Aircraft & Simulators

Students will learn to fly in either an AW109E, AW109S, A109, AS355 or B206, depending on the course and their individual requirements.

The Academy boasts four simulators:

  • AW109E Simulator
This is a replica of the aircraft, it has full autopilot, force trim, SAS, control feedback forces, full EFIS display. This is the only type of this AW109E simulator available in the UK. Furthermore, it is an exact replica of the switch gear and cockpit of the training aircraft used by Castle Air Academy, which results in a seamless transition from simulator to aircraft.
  • AS350 Elite Simulators FNPTII (x2)
  • AW109 FNPT11 Simulator

Students are encouraged to use the simulators for ‘practice’ over and above the course specification at no additional cost. EASA ICAO and Military instrument students in particular benefit from this initiative due to their courses being short and they find the additional practice to be of immense benefit.

Finally, we have accommodation nearby to suit all needs and budgets – from aviation friendly B&B’s and hotels to fully furnished apartments. The Academy have negotiated exclusive discounted rates to pass on to our students.

All the flying training following excellent and thorough ground instruction delivered by highly experienced instructors. The quality of the simulator provided an excellent foundation for flying the aircraft. The staff were all very approachable and always readily available to answer questions. Overall the course was very well organised and provided an excellent lead in to a career in commercial aviation.
