Helicopter IR Training Course

We pride ourselves on providing students with the highest calibre helicopter IR training available. The Academy has produced in excess of 300 instrument trained pilots to date and our excellent facilities mean that students return again and again. By merging two training capabilities in 2016, we have now become the UK’s largest pilot training school with the best instructors around.

Every member of our professional training team has extensive civilian and military flight experience in different conditions and environments. We operate from a purpose-built facility at Gloucestershire Airport and as the largest helicopter charter company in the UK, students are offered a career path if they meet our high standards.

Our range of helicopter IR training courses includes the following:

• Full 50hr Single Pilot Multi Engine IR  – our most comprehensive IR course.
• FAA/ICAO IR Conversion – one of our most demanding courses.
• Qualified Military Pilots (QMP) IR – Procedural and Non-Procedural.
• Single to Multi-Engine IR Conversion – a shorter training course
• Fixed to Rotary IR Conversion

We ensure students are trained in a friendly, stress-free environment and we stay with you after your course has ended, to help guide you through the daunting CAA process of submitting your application and receiving your qualification. The Academy is an established Approved Training Organisation, specialising in advanced training for qualified pilots and we are conveniently located near to the motorway network, Birmingham Airport and Bristol International Airports.

We have four classrooms, a large training/meeting room with smart board, three simulator rooms, a mobile simulator and the airspace – with ILS, NDB, GPS, RNAV and radar approaches – lends itself perfectly to Instrument Training. All aspects are carried out on-site, with more of your time spent performing approaches rather than travelling to other airports.
